HUNGRY HILL writing: Short Short Story Competition 2013

Short Short Story Competition 2013

We are delighted to invite entries for the Hungry Hill Short Short Story competition 2013. The judge will be the novelist Alex Barclay.
Conditions of entry
1. The closing date for entry is 1 February 2013.
2. There will be one cash prize of €250. All shortlisted stories will be featured at a reading in March or April 2013 (details to be announced), and published in an anthology on the Hungry Hill Writing website and/or in print form.
3. Each story may be on any theme, and must not exceed 500 words; it should be typed single-spaced.
4. You may submit as many entries as you wish.
5. A fee of €5 per story is payable.
6. Each entry should be submitted via the Contact page of the website or in an email to hungryhillwriting@gmail.com — preferably in the body of the email or as a .doc or .docx attachment. The email should include your name and postal address (entries will be anonymised before submission to the judge). Payment should be made via the PayPal button at the foot of this page, and the PayPal transaction number of your entry fee should be quoted in your email.
7. If you do not wish to submit or pay via the internet, postal entries will be accepted if accompanied by payment in euros only (cheques or money orders, made out to Hungry Hill Writing—we do not recommend sending cash). We are unable to accept cheques or orders in other currencies, and an unsigned or otherwise invalid cheque will disqualify the entry. Proof of posting will not be taken as proof of timely delivery. The address is: Hungry Hill Writing, Errisbeg, Rodeen, Castletownbere, County Cork, Ireland.
8. The judge’s decisions are final, and no feedback or critique can be offered.
9. Copyright in poems remains with the authors. Submission of an entry licenses (but does not oblige) Hungry Hill Writing to publish the entry in book form and online, and to read it in public, in connection with this and other competitions.
10. Entries should be previously unpublished in printed or online format, and should not be currently under consideration for publication or competition elsewhere. (Please note that posting on a personal website, blog, or group website counts for these purposes as publication unless access to the post is password-protected.)
11. Hungry Hill Writing reserves the right to disqualify entries which are reasonably deemed libellous or otherwise actionable under civil or criminal law. In such cases entry fees will not be refunded.
