Poetry, fiction and play submissions are now open for our March 2015 issue. See below for guidelines and links to the submission forms for each category.

General Submission Guidelines

We want our readers to discover genre-defying boldness from exciting writers in poetry, fiction and plays, literary review, interviews and commentary. To that end, we need prose, poetry and play texts that instantly grab our minds and take us on extraordinary literary journeys. If your work is competently written but doesn’t have the kind of depth that makes the readers work just that little bit harder, then it’s probably not for us. We want you to make peoples eyes open wider and their minds race with excitement as they feast on your words.

We do accept simultaneous submissions, but please do ensure that you contact us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. Likewise, if we are unable to accommodate your writing in our pages, we will let you know in plenty of time should you wish to submit elsewhere. If you have not heard from us within 90 days, please get in touch to enquire as to the status of your submission.

We do not accept translations or work that has been previously published in print or online. Only original unpublished work submitted by the author will be considered. No submissions by publishers, presses or agents please.

Ensure that your name does NOT appear on the uploaded documents. We operate a blind submission policy so that we can truly appraise your work on merit alone, with at least 2 or 3 different editors reviewing all submissions before passing comments to the editor. Uploaded file/s are electronically tagged so that we know who they’re from.

  Our editorial style is suited to poems of any length, however we would ask that your submission totals no more than 160 lines and a maximum of 5 poems. If you have a poem of greater length, only send us the first 160 lines, explaining further details in your cover letter, stating number of lines for the full poem.
  
  You can upload your poems in a single file or multiple files (one for each poem), in either DOC, DOCX, PDF, or RTF.

  At Bare Fiction we want your work to reach out, grab us by the hand and immerse us fully into your world from the very start. Whether it’s flash fiction of a 100 – 1000 words or short stories of up to 5000 words, we have space for it in our magazine.
  
  We will look at submissions in most genres except Erotica.

• Bare Fiction Magazine: Theatre Submission - March 2015 Issue

  We feel that playwrights get a raw deal in literary magazines and we're here to change that once and for all. Submissions for short plays of around 15 minutes in length or approximately 10 pages of text are preferred. Please give a brief synopsis in your covering letter and, if applicable, include details of any performances of the text you have received or productions planned.

Feedback

We receive a lot of submissions and are therefore unable to give personal feedback. We would ask that you please refrain from re-submitting for the same issue if your initial work is not accepted for publication at that time, unless specifically requested to do so by a member of the editorial team.

Terms & Conditions of Publication

All rights revert to the authors upon publication. We ask that your work does not appear in another publication (print or online) for a period of 3 months from the date of publication in Bare Fiction Magazine. We also ask that Bare Fiction Magazine is acknowledged with any subsequent publication of your work by another website or press.

Though authors retain all rights to their work, we may wish to publish your work on our website before of after print publication, and so require Non-Exclusive Digital Rights.

Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to offer payment for the inclusion of your work in the magazine. A print copy will of course be sent to you upon publication.

Books for Review

We accept titles for review that have been published no more than 6 months prior to submitting to us. These can be poetry collections, anthologies, chapbooks and pamphlets, collections and anthologies of short fiction, novels or published plays. We do not accept self published titles for review.
