Overview: Yemassee is now accepting entries for its 2014 Yemassee Writing Prizes, including the 2014 William Richey Short Fiction Contest. The author of the winning story will receive $1000 and publication in Yemassee 22.2. Ten finalists will receive acknowledgment in the same issue and on our website. All entries will be considered for publication in an upcoming issue of Yemassee.
Deadline: January 15, 2015
Entry Instructions: To enter, submit one piece of unpublished short fiction of up to 6,000 words. An entry fee of $20 must accompany each entry.
Discounted Subscription: Entries qualify the submitter for a one-year subscription to Yemassee at the discounted price of $2 -- to receive the discount, please submit your entry in the appropriate category in Submittable.
Formatting and Other Guidelines: Story manuscripts should be double-spaced and should include the title of the story, the word count, and page numbers. The author's name must not appear anywhere on the manuscript. Stories that do not conform to these guidelines may be disqualified at the editors' discretion. Entries must be submitted online using Submittable; paper submissions will not be accepted. We welcome multiple entries. However, each entry must be submitted separately and accompanied by an additional entry fee. While we do allow simultaneous submissions, please inform us immediately if the submission is accepted elsewhere by withdrawing the submission in Submittable. Note that no refunds will be issued for submissions that are withdrawn or disqualified. All entries must be submitted by the deadline.
