STORY FRIDAYS: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS. Deadline: Dec 29th.

STORY FRIDAYS: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

STORY FRIDAYS:  The 1980s

For January Story Fridays we've got the theme The 1980s.  Well, we were there, were you? We’d love as wide and wild variety of stories set in or inspired by the 1980s as possible.  A quick aide memoire to get you in the mood: we had the miner’s strike, Adam Ant, riots on the streets of London and Toxteth, yuppies, Bananarama, the Falklands, perms and shoulderpads, Princess Di, Michael Jackson’s Thriller, poll tax, the Walkman, Rubik Cubes and, of course, Mrs Thatcher…….

This Story Friday will kick off a weekend of 1980s films that Kilter Theatre are screening at the Salisbury Club on the London Road, just down from Burdall's Yard. There'll be Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Breakfast Club, Back to the Future AND a 1980s Disco!  You can just write and perform a story of course, or you can really get down on it for the weekend!

SUBMISSION DETAILS:
We are looking for short stories or monologues, fact or fiction (but mainly fiction), maximum 2,000 words. 2,000 is a maximum though - we've had some lovely flash fiction in the past.  No poetry please.

The event will be held on Friday 9th January 2015 at Burdall's Yard in Bath.  Deadline for submissions is Monday 29th December. PLEASE check that you are available to come along on the 9th January before you submit.  We like the writers to be in the audience for these events.

Two wonderful professional actors, Olly Langdon and Caroline Garland of Kilter Theatre, are very happy to read your story if performance gives you the jitters.  Let me know in your email when you submit if you'd like someone else to read your piece.

Do email me at clare.reddaway@btinternet.com, give me a ring on 01225 428 469 or go to the website www.awordinyourear.org.uk if you'd like more information.  If you want to know what kind of stories we enjoy, have a listen to some of the readings at previous Story Fridays which are available on the website.

This is an upaid opportunity.

Story Fridays are run by Clare Reddaway of A Word In Your Ear and Olly Langdon and Caroline Garland of Kilter Theatre.

Please forward this email on to any writers who you think might be interested.

With best wishes
