What Is Battery Pack?
Battery Pack II will be a tiny (smaller than palm-sized and with only eight pages) anthology of short stories, made from a single folded sheet of paper. It will be given away for free with the summer issue of
Neon, as well as being available for readers anywhere in the world to download, print and fold their own copy. Anyone who
donates £10 or more to the project will receive ten copies of
Battery Pack II on publication to give out to friends and family. For a better idea of what the finished article will look like, take a look at the
first edition of Battery Pack, which was published in 2014.
What I’m Looking For
Short stories containing no more than
seventy-five words at most. If the story contains paragraph breaks it may be necessary to reduce that wordcount to fifty. I prefer stories where there’s a clear narrative and it’s easy to tell what’s going on. Abstract or purely descriptive pieces are less likely to be selected. I have a slight tendency towards horror, but am happy to read any genre.
Terms
Simultaneous submissions are okay, but please let me know if the piece is accepted elsewhere. I would prefer not to see reprints, as there won’t be space in
Battery Pack II to properly credit the original publisher.
Battery Pack II will take one-time non-exclusive serial rights, one-time non-exclusive electronic rights and archival rights to accepted pieces. Accepted authors will be offered a flat payment of £2.50, OR ten copies of
Battery Pack II to give out to friends and family.
How To Submit
To submit please fill in the form below. All fields need to be filled in. You can submit as many times as you like. The deadline is April 15th, and you’ll hear back shortly after that, if not before. If you submit I’ll email you once when
Battery Pack II is published, but won’t keep your email address after that. If you have any questions or queries please get in touch.
