Submissions
We are now open for submissions!
We do not accept previously published work (this includes anywhere on the web). Simultaneous submissions are perfectly acceptable, but please contact us immediately upon acceptance elsewhere. You may submit twice per reading period per genre unless otherwise solicited by editors, but please wait until you hear back from us before submitting again. If you have been published in our print or online journal, please wait at least one year from the time of publication to submit again. Please see specific genre requirements below before submitting. The reading period for Beecher’s is September 1, 2014 through February 14, 2015.
For general submissions, please include your contact information on the first page of your manuscript in the upper left-hand corner (Name, Address, Email, and Phone). Also please include the word count in the upper right-hand corner.
We offer payment in the form of one copy of Beecher’s 5.
Please submit only online via Submittable.
Submission Guidelines from the Editors:
Poetry
We hope to receive poetry that creates and subsequently satisfies new appetites in us. Indicating a preference might imply that we aren’t open to the new–the unexpected. The first time someone described sushi to us, it sounded insane. We love sushi now. We can’t get enough of it. The same with prose poems. Send us something we’ve never tried before, but are bound to adore. We accept 3-5 poems per submission, or 10 pages total.

Fiction
We want quality fiction that deploys sharp detail, unique and complex characters, beautiful language, and a memorable voice. Most importantly, though, we want submissions that use all of these elements to tell an interesting, engrossing story that lingers with the reader long after it ends. Take risks; give us your most imaginative, challenging writing, the kind that has the potential to change the way we read or look at things. We do want stories of literary quality, but we are not bound to realistic modes of writing. Story submissions should be 4,000 words or less. We also accept flash-fiction. Please submit only one story at a time.

Nonfiction
We love all forms of nonfiction, but we especially love work that plays with the boundaries of the genre in exciting ways. Whether funny, strange, heartbreaking, wild, deliciously mundane, or something else entirely, make us experience your truth in (preferably) under 4,000 words.

Art & Design
Beecher’s features one artist per issue. We are a design forward journal, so we are seeking innovative, bold, and illustrative images (no photographs, please). We require a minimum of 7 different .jpeg images (adequate resolution is 300dpi or 1500 x 2100 pixels), each uploaded separately. Submitted images should be B&W or grayscale, as we do not print in color.
