CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Junoesq is now open for #Issue 4 submissions for poetry, fiction (short stories or flash fiction), non-fiction (creative non-fiction, personal and academic essays, memoir pieces, travelogues and philosophical musings) from women writers writing about any topic that is thought provoking, moving, sensuous or humorous. We don’t mind erotic if it isn’t pornographic; or controversial if it doesn’t involve anything gruesome happening to children.
We prefer unpublished work but are open to published work that has had a small circulation and is ready to be appreciated by a wider audience if there is no conflict regarding copyright issues. All writers published in Junoesq will retain copyright for their work. At present, Junoesq will not be able to pay contributors.
For poetry, please submit up to 3 poems with the maximum length of each poem under 400 words. For flash fiction pieces, each submission is up to 500 words. For short stories, we accept 1000 words up to 5000 words. For non-fiction, please send a query with a pitch about the topic and theme first; we accept each submission from 500 to 5000 words. All works should be formatted only in Word .doc or .docx in either Arial or Times New Roman, single spaced for poetry, double spaced for prose, with name of the author, title of the work and wordcount indicated at the top right header of the document.
We are also seeking photographers/artists to collaborate with for our upcoming issues. Check out Issue 2 for an example of how this works (our contributing artist was Nelly Sanchez).
Please allow up to four months for reading and response. We aim to respond to everyone who submits, but we appreciate your patience, especially during busy periods. Do enquire about your submission if you do not hear from us after four months. We plan ahead, so if your submission is accepted, it might be published in the upcoming issue, or the next.
Kindly send to: submissions@junoesq.com and state in the Subject field which genre you are submitting for as well as the title of your work/s. Include also a 50-word literary bio of yourself. Deadline for #Issue 4 is 15 April and #Issue 5 is 15 June.
